Summer is the perfect time to explore new worlds, discover exciting stories, and build a love for reading! From seasoned readers to those just starting out, our fun, engaging activities, events, and book recommendations are tailored to support every age and reading level. Join us for an adventure in learning and become a lifelong reader!
Register
There are two ways to register, on the Beanstack website or by using the Beanstack Tracker app. Participants can register beginning May 1, 2025.
- Beanstack Website: Under "Create an account", click on "Register an Individual or Family" and then fill in your information. Beanstack allows families to be linked together so all family members can be accessed with one login.
- Beanstack Tracker App: Choose "find your school or library." Search for and select "Indianapolis Public Library". Follow the steps to register an individual or family.
Rules
- Registration begins Thursday, May 1, 2025
- First day to log reading time Saturday, May 31, 2025
- Last day to log reading time & pick up prizes Saturday, August 2, 2025
- Prizes while supplies last and subject to change
- Minutes are not transferable between individuals.
- A maximum of 20 hours will be awarded to each participant
Track Reading Time
It's easy. Track time spent reading, listening to audiobooks, reading aloud to someone, or having someone read to you. You can track reading time on Beanstack, or on a paper tracker available at any Library location, whichever you prefer.
Earn Prizes
Prizes are earned at 1 hour, 5 hours, 10 hours, 15 hours, and 20 hours of reading.

Group Registration
Part of a local summer camp, school, daycare, or day program that wants to participate in Summer Reading? Make it more fun by registering as a group. Please contact your local library for details.
Community Reading Challenge
All readers who log time will be eligible for grand prizes at the end of the summer if all age groups in the Summer Reading Program together reach a total of 20 million minutes read. Winners will be contacted in August.

Donate New or Gently Used Books
This year, the Library is partnering with Project Play, Inc. a nonprofit organization that accepts new and gently used toys and books to bring learning through play into every household. The public can donate new or gently used books at all Library branches.
