Families with young children came to Central Library on April 27, 2024 for our annual celebration of language and literacy! Activities included concerts, animal meet and greets, storytimes in English and Spanish, games, art, and more! Including meeting Daniel Tiger. Children also enjoyed free books and giveaways!
Visitors were able to read, write, talk, sing, and play in Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood! At this event, kids played and learned in the playground, read and sang in storytimes, danced their wiggles out at concerts from 123 Andrés, got a temporary tattoo, and wrote thank you letters to first responders in our post office.
We look forward to seeing you at our next Be My Neighbor Day in 2025!

Celebrated in Mexico since around 1925, the philosophy of "this day" honestly, is magical all year long. El día de los niños honors home language, the beauty of childhood, the magic of culture and reading aloud. Here are a few books we like for fun and some for sharing culture. We love that our collection also has many of the titles available in Spanish, too! Find a new read aloud to share!
Adorable book that illustrates the love and honor of relatives and ancestors and how and why Alma was named.
PURE JOY! I love the story and the art.
Sweet beautiful answers to a question that is oft asked to humans of color. Affirming and and loving.
