The Indianapolis Board of School Commissioners has appointed Stephen Lane to The Indianapolis Public Library Board of Trustees.
Lane is a graduate of Lawrence Central High School and currently lives in the Haughville neighborhood. He is a former IndyPL staff member who now serves as a reference and outreach archivist for the Ruth Lilly Special Collections and Archives at the University Library of IUPUI.
Lane earned his Bachelor of Arts in cultural anthropology degree and a minor in Africana Studies at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. He later attended IUPUI for graduate school and earned his Master of Library Science with an emphasis in archiving and local history as well as a Master of Arts in public history. In his free time, he enjoys volunteering, riding his bike, gardening, and spending time with friends and family.
He will fill the term on the Library Board of Trustees of former Board member Judge Jose Salinas and is looking forward to this new opportunity to serve the community. Lane's term will run through December 31, 2026.
“I am excited to serve the Indianapolis Public Library again through this board appointment," says Lane. "I look forward to working with everyone at IndyPL to see what kinds of positive changes we can collaboratively and collectively make together.”
