The Indianapolis Public Library is excited to welcome New York Times-bestselling children’s book author and illustrator Juana Martinez-Neal to Central Library on Tuesday, November 19, from 6–7 p.m. for an engaging author talk. Originally from Peru, Martinez-Neal earned a Caldecott Honor for her debut picture book Alma and How She Got Her Name and received the 2018 Pura Belpré Medal for Illustration for La Princesa and the Pea.

Many of her books are available in both English and Spanish, and attendees will have the opportunity to purchase her books from Kids Ink. Register online here.

“We are excited to welcome Juana Martinez-Neal to Central Library,” said Devery North, school age and family program specialist at The Indianapolis Public Library. “Her beautifully illustrated stories resonate with readers of all ages and backgrounds, and we’re thrilled to offer our community a chance to hear from her directly and celebrate her work.”

The Library is also organizing a school visit with Juana Martinez-Neal, who will be visiting Garden City Elementary the following morning to speak with 2nd and 3rd-grade students.

Please reach out if you have any questions or would like to interview Library staff about this event.
