The Indianapolis Public Library (IndyPL) is pleased to announce that Lolita Campbell will serve as chief financial officer effective August 10, 2022.
Campbell will work closely with the CEO and senior leadership to ensure that IndyPL maintains excellent financial standing that allows the Library to achieve the goals and objectives outlined in its strategic plan, including overseeing the acquisition of materials that support digital and technology inclusion, supporting k-16 education, and approaching all operations through a lens of racial equity.
She will replace Carolyn Adams, who stepped into the role as Interim Chief Financial Officer after Ijeoma Dike-Young’s departure in the fall of 2021.
Campbell, an Indianapolis native, has more than 30 years of experience in accounting and finance, most recently serving as the senior financial analyst with the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County (HHC). Prior to that role, she supported Indiana Legal Services, Inc. as Chief Financial Officer. In this role, she managed a $10 million budget for a not-for-profit agency that provides a full range of free civil legal services to low-income clients.
“Throughout her career, Campbell has displayed her ability to tackle complex financial issues strategically and to be a leader during seasons of growth and change,” said Nichelle M Hayes, interim chief executive officer. “Her career path is aligned with our strategic goals, and we are excited to have her join the team and ensure our continued financial wellbeing.”
Campbell graduated from the historic Crispus Attucks High School before attending the HBCU Paine College. She completed her undergraduate degree in Accounting at Martin University and received her MBA and MSM from the Indiana Institute of Technology. In her free time, she enjoys vacationing and spending time with family, friends, and her Sigma Gamma Rho sorority family.
Campbell is looking forward to joining the IndyPL team.
“The Libraries in Marion County are beautiful, and so is the knowledge held inside,” said Campbell. “Education has always been important to me, so the mission and vision of the Library align well with mine. I am excited to jump in and take on this new role.”
