More than 45 local community resource organizations will be at Central Library on October 4, noon to 5 p.m., to share services related to homeless resources, employment, medical screenings, mental health, substance abuse, and teen & youth services at The Indianapolis Public Library Community Resource Fair.
The fair is organized by The Library’s Social Service Action Committee, which was established in 2021 to form partnerships with community organizations and provide quality programming, resources, connections with services, and outreach for people experiencing homelessness in Indianapolis.
“The need to be connected to community resources continues to grow in our city, and navigating systems continues to be a challenge for those that need help the most,” said Yanna McGraw, The Indianapolis Public Library's social worker. “The Library is committed to lifelong learning. To provide lifelong learning to vulnerable populations and Black, Indigenous, and People of Color populations, having these resources in the library provides for quicker access and connection, and it addresses the needs of those who need help. When individuals’ needs are met, they can be a part of the many wonderful programs and services that The Indianapolis Public Library has to offer. Libraries are places where individuals seek out answers, direction, and connection and we play an important role in the community.”
