The Brightwood Branch opened in 1901 as the sixth public library in Indianapolis. It served the Brightwood community at several locations along Station Street, one street west of a North Sherman Avenue storefront site which opened in 1972. A 1996 renovation at the North Sherman Avenue location doubled the size of the branch to 5,400 square feet. In 2020, a brand-new branch building, across the street from the previous branch, was completed and re-named as the Martindale-Brightwood Branch.

Seed Library (March-October)
Through the Ages Fitness (TTAF) Low Impact engages the participants from head to toe, while activating their brains through our theme-based exercises. TTAF Low Impact sessions are seated and lead by a Through the Ages Fitness instructor. This class happens on Mondays from January - May.
Join us at the Library for an informative workshop focused on understanding important legal protections and resources for immigrants. This session will cover essential information, answer your questions, and provide guidance on navigating the legal landscape.
During this late-night drop-in craft session, adult and senior patrons are welcome to learn a new skill, get help with current projects, or just stop by for some creative craft time.
