What was known as the Shelby Branch began in 1918 when the library was housed in old School No. 34. A new branch was constructed in 1965 at the current Shelby Street location. Following a major renovation, the branch reopened in 2011 as the Garfield Park Branch, reflecting the desire of residents to refer to the branch by their beloved and adjacent Garfield Park.

Career Center is a program for adults to get assistance with creating resumes and cover letters, searching for jobs, and job applications. Laptops are provided but patrons are encouraged to bring their own if they have them.
If you're interested in learning more about Google Docs or Microsoft Word then consider coming to our computer class! We will go over the basics on how to use Google Docs/Word as well as some tips and tricks when writing.
