Frequently Asked Questions

Do you allow photoshoots at Central Library?

Yes. There is a $50/hour photoshoot fee and photoshoots must be arranged at least one week in advance. Please reach out to events@indypl.org for date/time availability and for a photoshoot application. Photoshoots can only take place during Library public hours.

What services does the Library provide during room rentals?

Central Library provides the rented event space. You would be responsible for the planning of the event. Our exclusive catering partner, Ritz Charles, will assist with all food and beverage needs. You are welcome to use any outside vendors of your choice for floral services, audio and visual needs, etc. Vendor guidelines will be sent to you to share with your vendors. All vendors must be licensed and insured, and must adhere to the vendor guidelines.

Are tours of the spaces available?

Absolutely, contact us to arrange a visit. During the tour, you will also receive a packet of information about the venue, pricing, and availability.

Does the library allow alcohol?

Yes. All alcohol must be supplied by our exclusive caterer.

Are tables and chairs included in the room rental?

We provide up to 225 ceremony chairs at no cost. Catering will provide all tables, chairs, and linens for receptions.

Do you have audio visual equipment available to rent?

The client is responsible for renting any A/V equipment from an outside vendor. We are happy to send you a suggested vendor list upon booking the venue.

Is parking available for guests of the event?

Central Library offers convenient parking for your event needs. The Library has an underground garage that has parking spaces for up to 300 vehicles on two levels. The garage entrance is located on Pennsylvania Street, just south of 9th Street. During the Library’s normal hours of operation, standard hourly parking rates apply. Parking vouchers may be obtained for special events. Use of the parking garage for guests is included in the rental price of all of our spaces for events after public hours. Additionally, metered street parking is available around the Library on 9th Street, Saint Clair Street, Pennsylvania Street, and Meridian Street.
