What was known as the Shelby Branch began in 1918 when the library was housed in old School No. 34. A new branch was constructed in 1965 at the current Shelby Street location. Following a major renovation, the branch reopened in 2011 as the Garfield Park Branch, reflecting the desire of residents to refer to the branch by their beloved and adjacent Garfield Park.

Welcome to the Teen Zone! Teens are invited to hang out at the Library after school for a variety of activities including coloring, arts and crafts, games, study sessions, and more! The Library will provide the space and supplies for teens to engage with each other and Library resources.
Adults with little or no experience in using a computer are invited to learn the parts of the computer and to use the computer mouse more effectively, a needed skill to use a computer and the Internet. Discover how to use a mouse and the on-screen cursor to make the computer do what you want it to.
Babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and their parents/caregivers are invited for stories, songs, and movement activities.
